I get this message when i try to open .mp4 files and .avi files. There also other format that i know N900 can open, but it won't. e.g. avi files, in every N900 review it says that it can open .avi files, but i can't. Pls help.

I had this too and removing decoders-support fixed it. I was then able to reinstall decoders-support without problems so I think it has something to do with the tracker processes hanging (the decoders-support install restarts them).

Theres a an application, if you havn't installed it you should be able to find it in the normal application manager

Don't forget some ,movie files might be avi/mpg etc, but use different codecs (Ways to encode them), so not all will work.

Saying that it has played nearly everything i have thrown at it

To fix this problem just open X Terminal and type
Code:
killall gst-video-thumbnailerd
After this everything should work fine (once, then you have to do it again).
