I just purchase an N800 and I love it. I've been using it to remote X into my Linux server to run programs like Emacs. The problem is some apps require sending Ctrl or Alt key combinations. Unfortunately the onscreen keyboard does not have these keys :-( Is there any easy way to hack the keyboard to show these keys?

Thanks in advance,

AnthonyF

Xterm on the N800 has a menu option for sending CTRL-key combinations. It's "Terminal" and then "Send Ctrl-<some key>". I don't think you can send ALT-key combinations.

Hey Karel.... Yeah, Anthony and I know about the menu option but it's a drag to use. He's using the large thumb-key keyboard, so it's a pain to have to head for the menus.

We're hoping that there will be an update/replacement for the OSK that will allow CTRL and ALT key combinations.

Does anybody know the state of the fix ?

Is this problem accepted as a bug by Nokia?

Input of ctrl and alt modifieres is vital -- not only in an x-term!
Also the handwriting input method should be able to understand moridieres.

Thanks.

My current version of xterm (from maemo-hackers.org, I believe) is 0.13.mh24bora1, and has the sidebar which has a ctrl key available. I don't need alt very often, so I haven't looked into customizing the sidebar, but I think you can customize the other buttons and make one an alt key.
