I think that it should be mandatory that whenever a member post about a new app he/she should post screen captures of that app as well because majority of times these apps are released in Extra-Dev and all of people either lack knowledge or are afraid try new software because they are worried about breaking something.

By posting screen captures, at least everybody will get an idea of what the app looks like and what it does.

If that would me mandated, then the process of adding a screenshot to a post here needs to be as simple, if not simpler, than the method for taking a screenshot. Which would mean that the forum software would need considerable integration with the sharing services on Maemo mobile devices, and such an API needs to be open for older devices to have integrated via some kind of applet or plugin.

In other words, don't count on it lest you can make it simpler for both users and developers to handle.

I voted Yes, although I would prefer "strongly encouraged" over "mandatory"!

A big NO - a libertarian in me frowns upon everything mandatory!

Had to vote no. Mandating that a developer has to provide screenshots of an incomplete application (extra-dev) doesn't feel like a great idea. It's good to know about new projects, but there probably is a reason the apps aren't available to the average user, and forcing the developer to promote them early on might not be good for either him or the users.

For applications already in extras better screenshots and descriptions would be a nice addition (I find myself trying to look up videos of apps on youtube, instead of relying on the pics under maemo.org/downloads), but I'm not sure even this should be a top priority for the developers, more of a community thing... don't know.

I agree, strongly encourged... Mandatory is a bit harsh - I would rather keep it easy for the developers to continue creating the applications for this device rather than put them off with additional processes and requirements!
