The vibrate on my phone is very weak when the phone rings and for touch screen feedback which is almost non-existent.

The only time I can feel a good vibrate is when I switch on the phone.

Can I increase the strength of vibrate?

What causes the vibration?

I have already followed the steps in that link but it does not address the call vibrate and my screen vibrate does not become stronger or improve at all with any of those adjustments to the mce file.

That is why I am asking my questions. Is there another way to improve call vibrate?

What creates the vibrate? If it's the battery then maybe I can get a spare and see if anything changes.

You can try pimping up the values for "PatternTouchscreen" in /etc/mce/mce.ini.

@byte:
The instructions do work, and they pretty much tell you what you need to know to change the vibration for calls too.
If you have any specific questions or response, please let us know, but without more information from you about exactly what you're saying is not working, we can't help.

Ok, I changed the values of PatternTouchscreen to 10;3;0;1;10;30;0;50;50 which is the same as suggested in the other thread but I don't get any really noticeable change except that it makes a slightly louder noise when I touch the screen. (Touch sounds are disabled, this is more like the vibrate sound you hear at power on) There is almost no vibration from the screen.
For calls, I can't feel much vibration either. I often miss calls if the phone is in my pocket and I don't hear it ring because the vibration is almost non-existent.
Do I maybe have a faulty unit? Everything else works properly.

Ok, I shut down the phone instead of just rebooting and now the call vibrate is ok. (still rather weak but it seems like it's made like that.)

The haptic feedback or vibrate from the screen is still very weak and it still makes a slight sound when touching the screen. I really have to feel very carefully to notice the touch feedback. Surely that is not the way it should be?

Could be a faulty vibration motor, mine didn't work for a month (then it just worked without any change done to the device)
Do you hear an annoying ~14KHz sound when it vibrates? Could be something stuck in the motor.

Yes, it seems like a slight electrical buzz/clicking sound when I press the screen. I have only had my phone for about a month now.

I imported the phone from the US and I live very far away so returning it would be a big problem.

Any suggestions to fix this? Maybe my motor is just slightly stuck.

How should it feel? Is there a very clear and noticeable vibration from the screen or is it soft and almost unnoticeable?

I have used a Nokia 5800 and it's screen feedback is much stronger than my N900.
