gsmarena did a comparison of the major web browsers on mobile phones, including MicroB and Safari, as well as Opera Mini, Internet Explorer Mobile 6, Android Browser, WebOS browser and Symbian Browser.

I am sorry but MicroB wins hands down.. Because of the super fast webpage loading with desktop like rendering + FULL flash..

I agree. There is no mobile browser (currently) that can even compete with MicroB.

@Thor: Thanks for the link. That was an interesting in depth comparison with a great mix of devices.

@bandora + craftyguy: you guys might want to to leave posts like that in a new thread called MicroB is da best!!111, if you don't even bother reading the article.

Umm, actually I read the article earlier today when someone else posted it on these same forums...

If YOU had bothered to read, you would have seen that the reviewers had been fairly impressed with the MicroB browser in several (not ALL) of the areas they tested..

FTA: "If you’re reading this in Firefox, then you’re seeing what Nokia N900 users see. The Maemo browser uses the same rendering engine as Firefox, so pages look the same."

They do not make that same comment for any other browser in the review..

I came from a jailbroken iPhone 3G and I can tell you that MicroB is so much nicer. The only thing I miss is the customized web apps that work well in the iPhone's browser. For example, gmail has a special web app that I can't seem to use in microB. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to because I think it's just a website. Anyone know how to use it on MicroB? The app I'm referring to is the one shown on the iPhone here http://www.google.com/mobile/mail/

A lot of websites look for the browser's user agent and redirect you to a mobile optimized site. I noticed this a lot on the iPhone and it was nice to use those optimized sites

Mobile Firefox AKA Fennece is ALOT better than MicroB but it is TOOOOOO much of a memory HOG to be considered usable on the N900 and the FLASH PLAYER DOESN'T EVEN WORK????

Is their anyway to get search suggestions powered by a Search Engine like Google???

(OR if their search suggestion API isn't open, which I don't think it is, maby BING or YAHOO)???

The GSMArena test has a big mistake - it says MicroB can reflow text when zooming a web page. Well it can't. The undocumented Ctrl+Shift+I workaround does not give results for most pages.

Android browsers can reflow text no matter how many time you zoom in.

The lack of this feature makes MicroB pretty useless in the long run.

BTW, same applies to Firefox for Maemo where you only have two zoom levels anyway.

I did not read it that way. I guessed they meant, you can adjust the letter size and it will re-flow everywhere. In advance that is. And they are right, it works just fine everywhere.
