Hi all,
at first i want to say maemo is the best cell phone OS ever made!
Now, i've got a little question is there an build in compiler in maemo5?
I mean is it possible to compile C programms directly on the phone with the X terminal? With a command like this:
cc -o test test.c
Is this possible?

Regards
Alex

Yes, it's possible if you enable the tools and SDK repositories for Fremantle and install gcc from there:

http://repository.maemo.org/#sdk_repositories

(be aware that many of these packages are not optified and will fill your root partition)

Sorry for asking this dumb question

But i don't understand what you mean with 'enable tools and SDK repositories for Fremantle'
Ok, Fremantle has something to do with Scratchbox.

And the second thing i don't understand is: all the SDK's you showed me are for the computer and not for the cell phone itself. I want to compile programs directly on the phone!

Sorry for my bad english
