Hi all..hoping you can help me. I recently bought a 2GB SD Kingston card for my n800. When I tried to format it, it locked up and said "memory card corrupted or unformatted". I've tried everything including:

- switching card to the internal slot and trying to format it
- formatting it as fat32 on a PC and inserting it back into the tablet. It shows up but still gets errors when trying to copy to/from it. It even refuses to let me do a backup onto the card or set up a virtual memory space when in the internal slot. Both operations either return an error or hang the machine.
- updating the firmware to the latest version
- trying two other smaller SD cards (they also get the same error when formatting in either slot)

Even my original 128MB card that came with the machine now seems corrupted. In total, I've tried 3 SD cards and the card that came with the tablet and have not been able to format it without the error, create a virtual memory space, or do a backup using the backup manager.

Has anyone else run into this problem?? HELP PLEASE!!

Here's a link to what Panasonic has to say about formatting of SD cards (and they provide a tool too, don't use the PC formatter for this).

FWIW, I have never ever formatted an SD card, I have pocketfulls of them and I use them out of the box (after all, they come pre-formatted) on different cameras, digital recorders, different PDAs, USB card readers/writers, and now the N800. I've seen the arguments yadayada but I for one wouldn't bother with formatting the cards more than I would recommend formatting hard disks. I know some people won't agree but that's my opinion and I stick to it.
Usually when something fails it's either a broken card, or a broken device, unfortunately.

thanks TA-t3. I usually don't format cards either but when I put the SD card in, it wasn't even recognized so I felt I had to format it and that's when my troubles began.
