I really would use some more memory for my n900. so i was wndering if someday it would be able to connect external hard drivewith it so i could watch films from my n900 without syncing it with my computer.

unfortunately I can't think of a way you can connect an external HDD, the usb does not have a host controller, but you can connect to any DLNA network attached storage device and stream from it straight from the media player.

Almost certainly not. The obvious way to do this would be over USB, but the N900 apparently lacks hardware support for running as a USB host.

uPnP is a great option as well, which you already have if you have a wifi access point and a windows pc. for linux users (or even the more technical windows users) check out the thread on knots2.

anyone around here had a pretty nasty construction with a n900, usb-hub with external power from some AA batteries and a 2,5" harddrive?! ^^

edit: found it! -> http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=599
