I am also having trouble playing them in VLC media player and Windows media player. Any suggestions there?

I have the videos on a SDHC card.
Using MPlayer it shows the video in still frames then jerks to the the next frame with no sound.
Media player shows the AVI files but says file format not supported.
Do I need to convert them to a different format and if so what software do I use and what format do I convert to?
