hi.

i am just wanting to know is it possible to put basic apps from say ubuntu on the n900? i have heard people say well just compile and give it a go. but what do i compile and what do i compile it with. i have no idea wer to get the source code of many of the programs from apt-get on ubuntu only that its easy to install.

ther are a number of apps id be willing to give a go to if i knew where to start. is there a basic guide for this?

thanks

Scratchbox from Maemo 5 SDK or MADDE (or even better, both). You'll have to learn...

Yeh, I am going to go down the scratchbox route, but even when I have that, i'm goina be confused, if its not as easy as being able to give instructions (i.e. it differs per app) then fair enough i'll have to just look in to it.

Is it possible to add a basic linux repository source and use apt-get like you do on the ubuntu to get the same ones?

Someone has Ubuntu running on the N900, I read somewhere. But there's also Easy Debian, which I recently installed. Have you tried it? Debian has more programs than Ubuntu, anyway.
