Is it safe to plug in your N900 to this - Probably. The micro-USB has a standard pin out for power, ground, and data. Unless the makers of this system are criminally stupid you probably won't hurt your N900. But notice I said probably, the risk is yours.
Will it charge your N900? Maybe. The N900 is more finicky than most devices in what it will accept a charge from. Read this forum for more info about aftermarket chargers.

now i was wondering if i can use it to charge my n900 in the car as well, because i dont want to buy another car charger for the n900 if i dont have to.
i made a picture of the original n900 wall-charger and the car charger of my navigation system, take a look (nokia-charger on the top, car-charger of navi-system bottom)
i guess i can use it because the output of the car-charger is lower than the nokia wall-charger, but i'm not really sure... please someone enlighten me!
