i finally figured out how to use msn on my N900.
but i have a bit of a problem. this msn plugin adds my msn contacts to my normal contacts. they're all mixed up now.

is it possible to make a kind of menu. that i click contacts and it'll show a menu where you can choose to display the normal contacts or msn contacts.
because atm it's a mess

In the contacts application you can tell it to show groups
then you can say show only MSN

Besides that what you should do know is merge everything. So try to merge the msn contacts with the contact in your address book. That will clean up a lot. Its also much work to do that, so i hope that is backed up and that i never have to do that again, even after a reflash...

and what if i don't want to merge contacts? because my msn contacts have very odd names with many signs etc.
i simply want a list of normal contacts and msn contacts.

you can use pidgin if you want a separate app. Odd names are a good reason to merge contacts, since then you can find them by name instead of their silly msn nicknames. You can specify the names and nicknames in concats and the msn part will only be a detail in the contact card, like phone number and email for example.

i maybe have an idea, is it possible that when i am offline on msn that there aren't any msn contacts in my contacts list and if i'm online there are?

because i'm sometimes online, so that would clean up the mess for 90% of the time.

When you are offline from MSN your MSN contacts arent in your contact list.
If they appear there is because you added a phone number, or email or anything else, then the contact appears.

it is really better to merge, it is not that then something really drastic changes in your existing contact, it is just that they get 1 extra field (just like the sms, skype, google button)

I dont think it is possible to completely ignore/hide, at least that is not something i can find.
And there is not a group like "GSM contacts"

that's weird, because they are in my contact list, even when i'm offline and logged in msn through my desktop.

i didn't add a phonenumber for any msn contact in my list.
for example, i'm now offline on msn. and when i select a msn contact on my contact list it only shows a bar with "msn (pecan) IM" and under that is a hotmail adres of that person.
