Is the following behaviour normal?

I use ActiveSync with an Exchange 2007 on the N900 and all the mails I get end in a notification, no matter in which folder they get sorted. I get a lot of mails from services, which are put in different folders on the exchange server, so this is pretty annoying. I only want a notification for mails in my inbox.

I didn't have this problem with the same server and a Windows Mobile 6 device.

Everything else with ActiveSync works pretty well for me.

That's normal behaviour for the N900, yes - it alerts on all newmails received, whatever folder they're in. RoadSync used to do the same on S60, so it's not specific to the N900 mail client/MfE setup.

Have you tried using mfefolders app to deselect the folders you don't care about?

i have set up rules to move the automatic mails i get from several services into folders, and to mark them as read. in that case, you don't get a notification. don't know if that's a feasible solution for you though...

Is there a way to turn those yellow notifications off completely?

I find it annoying that I open my email, read the email, then delete the email, and finally still have to go and clear the notification. The blue light on the phone is good enough for me.
