So if everything was good, why did you flash your device?

Are you running anything in the background?

I'm still getting pretty decent frame rates on my YouTube videos.

For youtube you have to set "i Have a slow bitrate" in options otherwise, even the lowest resolution will be still too high for the n900

For YP, MegaVideo, etc.. overclock to 850~900 and it becomes just fine
(for YP you can also stream the flv with mplayer

Same thing here but I have alot of stuff installed including adblock might that be the showstopper? I'm not quite sure it ever was different. Should it run smooth?

um...no. I play a lot of YouTube videos for my kids and the videos are all fine without making any changes to settings.

My N900 is also not overclocked and video and audio are in sync. I play YouTube clips straight from inside the MicroB browser.

I had the same problem, and sometimes the video would not play at all. In my case, it seems to have been caused by me moving the microB engine from /usr/share/ to /home/opt to free up space in rootfs. After I moved it back, flash videos played smoothly in the browser again.

I guess the reason is that rootfs is on a different chip that is probably faster than the /home chip.

It might also be interesting to change the Power saving mode of your WiFi connection. Try and set it to Off and play some YouTube movies again.

This setting is found under Settings -> Internet connections -> Your SSID -> a few next until you see the Advanced button -> Pick Other tab
