Think it would be very handy to have a desktop widget button to lock the screen directly using the touch screen.

You can push the power button twice to lock the screen.

may be using a command on the X terminal..?

I know about this bug. Just update DCEW to the newest version in -devel.
And please use the complete scripts from http://wiki.maemo.org/Desktop_Comman...Widget_scripts

Is there an option to lock the N900 whilst using sygic for example, just as a way of avoiding other people 'fiddling'?
I have occasion to hand over my N900 to workmates and let them use the sat nav, but obviously don't want them to browse...
