Sorry that my first post is a cry for help!
I downloaded the updated mozilla yest and this mo callnotify and led without incident - all good.
This mo i went to maemocentral from planet maemo here and got nobbled with a windows like screen citing malware attack and downloaded what i thought was a solution offered by the site.
Any one with any ideas how much trouble i am in or how to fix whatever is in there - mozilla seems to b running v slowly?

Tks in advance
Ian

GREAT NEWS - This is from a reply post showing that all is fine again at maemocentral - thanks again for all your help.

Hi Nick,

I am the admin of MaemoCentral.com and I received your email, thanks. I am glad to say that we have fixed the issue.

It appears that a large number of sites hosted on godaddy were targeted with malware.

I'd once again like to emphasize that Maemo Central is safe and we'd love to have you there.

PS: Even if your downloaded the .exe file etc your N900 is safe. It is immune to such malware/viruses.

burwat292596, I am sorry you had to face such a situation. We're working to make sure it doesn't happen again. In the meanwhile, I'd appreciate it if you could edit your first post to tell people what happened and we avoid unnecessary paranoia!

If the window looked like an XP window, I would be incliined not to worry as the resulting download is likely to be a Windows executable which wouldn't run on your 900 anyway. Find the downloaded package in your files and delete it.

Most likely an advertisement. I would wager that it'd be safe to ignore that, and the slowness of Mozilla might just be because of your perception - ask someone else who has used it before to comment on the speed, the perceived slowdown might have been brought about by your paranoia.

It is malware but it will not harm your Maemo device - Windows users should avoid maemocentral for a while (or just make sure that you are running noscript). I'm going to drop the admin of maemocentral a line to let them know that their site has been compromised.

Why did you download the file to begin with?
