Just thought that the results from iPhone and Nexus One on browsermark (bit.ly/brmark) are too strange:

- N900's browser can handle flash, iPhone can't;
- N900's browser can handle complex pages (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/ for example) wich Android's browser can't (at least with HTC Hero's 1.6 Android);
- ...

So I had an idea: fake iPhone's user agent on N900 browser, so browser mark will think N900 is a iPhone and will show a better score...

And the result:

N900 with iPhone's User Agent: 18340 points
N900 with default User Agent: 7680 points

SHAME!

So, who's to blame?

I hope I'm missing something... or is it the real thing? Is BrowserMark fake and try to fool people by telling them that iPhone's browser is better than others? Is Apple paying for it? What about Nexus One results?

My experiment is not 100% reliable but is a great clue... what you guys have to say? Someone with a better tech knowledge...

WTF is this?

You can fake User Agent by using Macuco 2, if you want to test it by yourself...

its def not fake i oc'd my n900 to 1.15Ghz and got a score of 23000 using the midori browser, the micro b browser just isnt as fast as it could be, there is a browsermark thread somewhere to post ur scores on.

But he's saying all he did was spoof the browser ID if I read correctly. There should not have been such a difference due to that!

I have tested now using Macuco2 and default user agent and got 18000. So why is macuco way better (browsermark talking) than default browser?

Strange... what am I missing?

They're all better than the default browser, as far as i know midori is the quickest though.
Saying that, with everyday use there is no real difference so i just stick with the default at the mo as i like it and im used to it.

I use Midori a lot, its buggy once in while and scrolling pages with images is laggy as hell.. but for surfing T.M.O its unbelievably fast.

Proof below

N900 @ default 600Mhz

Midori (with UA set to)
iPhone - 21566
Firefox - 21670

Default Browser (With UA set to)
iPhone - 8409
Default - 7890

@OP. Ran the test a few times and realized that the UA doesn't make much of a difference.

I've also compared by loading different webpages using the 2 User Agents (iPhone and Default).

It's true, there really is no difference (if yes, it's just marginal) in speed of loading, except for the UI as iPhone's is bouncier and has smoother scrolling.

Despite that, I stick with the Default as I can view my yahoomail and other favorite bookmarks exactly on what I want it should be.
