Due to the poor battery life of the n900 i decided to buy 2 spare (non nokia) batteries and and external charger from ebay.
the batteries work fine and being able to charge them outside of the phone is a real plus.

However my most useful app that i have installed on my N900 battery-eye seems to not be recording the discharge of the battery instead it just has a green dot right at the top of the graph which does not move along with time nor does it get any lower in the graph.

even though battery life should not be a problem now i have enough batteries to last me a long weekend without charging but i would still like to know when i have been over using my phone so i can maximize its battery life.

Does anyone know why this is and is it possible that battery-eye (or something similar) can be patched in the future to solve this problem

Does your battery indicator change? Battery Eye can only record the info the power management provides. If you have a dumb battery that does not report it's state then you're screwed.

welli have only had it in for about 2 hours i have to say and it hasnt gone down yet. so i will have to wait and see. it could still be above 80% which would mean there was no change in the battery indicator.

I really hope it isnt a dumb battery. i assumed the phone could tell how charged a battery was some how. i guess what they say about 'assume' is correct.

to be honest if it is you cant really argue consider it was only £9.99 for 2 batteries and a charger. its better than nothing
