Here's a video of N8 running Bounce ported from N900, and a rally game.

N900 actually feels smoother, thanks to cortex A8.

Also notice the lame typical symbian... i don't notice any difference between it and S60v5

I'll give N8 a pass.

The rumored Broadcom chip pushes more plolygons than our Cortex A8. If anything isn't smooth, it is due to coding errors and not a lack of GPU power.

And where's the source to that rumor?

Nokia are a business and have chosen a path of using the OSS community phenomenon to reduce their overheads specifically after sales support and development. Unlike Apple who do the opposite and make a killing from their Applications store.

yet another question : why are we talking about arm11 ? is the n8 based on it ? and what other phones/internet tablets are based on it ?

and...

couldn't we get the rally game ? =D

Symbian doesn't require much horsepower to run. So ARM11 @ 600 MHz is good (but not awesome for it). A top GPU, off course, is needed for video and games.

Why that combination? To save costs. For what is going to offer, the N8 is pretty good bang for your buck.

Seeing Symbian does remind me how lucky we are on Maemo.
