Man, I've been having many problems, now my N900 won't auto lock. Any idea if theres a way to go back to an older firmware and reupdate? Without flashing, anything but flashing to fix this thing? :X

Oh, so it's not just me. Is PR.1.2 soon coming out to fix the bug Galore? :X

I've been running PR 1.1.1 and it locks just fine, after a set time or by selecting lock. Did you check the settings to see if the timeout was changed? Maybe an app you're running in the background is preventing it? I can tell you it should work just fine in PR 1.1.1

Check the keyboard sensor is working? It won't auto lock if the keyboard is open.. and I've seen/helped some users whose keyboard slide sensor was broken..

You can tell by running the command
dmesg
in an x terminal

open and close the keyboard 5 or 6 times and run the command again.. you should notice a whole load of extra messages each time the keyboard is opened or closed..

My auto lock also works fine

you can use health check to see if your phone shows as always open or always closd on the keyboard slider.

i had same problem when my fone came out of my pocket on the bike it just so happens the keyboard and lock are controled by a magnet behind the screen if thats gone the cud produce the above problem. i must say tho keyboard will show as constanly close in healthcheck if the magnet has gone

dmesg tells me slide is open/closed every time I open or close the keyboard and the display turns on and off if I open the keyboard and close it so that cannot be the problem.
I haven't changed any settings and it worked some time ago.

Yeah, dmesg tells me that the sensor is working fine, still don't understand the problem.

I seem to be having this exact problem. According to both dmesg output and also HealthCheck, apparently the device thinks the keyboard slider is always open. I haven't dropped the device or anything. I do live in a hot climate so I'm wondering if it could be related to the ambient temperature somehow??? Any tips on how to further test and/or resolve the issue where the device things the keyboard slider is always open?
