Oh wise people:
Is there a way by which I can transfer my list of contacts from an "ancient" N73 to the N900?
Much appreciated!

havent used an n73 myself, but if all nokia's transfer contacts and pc suite apps fail, and mass sending via bluetooth is a pain, theres always the option of copying to sim card and back. (wont copy email addresses and the like though, just name and number)

Worked like a charm for my e71. Just used built-in contact transfer feature of N900. Took couple of minutes to grab all my contacts over bluetooth.
Contacts-menu-get contacts-synchronize from other device. Wording may vary.

Synced my N95 8gb with N900' built in sync without any problems on the first day I got it, only thing that I did was merging skype contacts with phone numbers

I stored my addressbook with Nokia's software, and it stores it as an NBU file. I used NBU Explorer found below:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nbuexplorer/

With that software, I converted it to another file ... sorry cannot remember but it should be self explanatory in the format it can convert to. This then was imported into my n900 through the phone. At the time, the N900 wasn't supported by Nokia's software suite, maybe it is now easier to import.

Go to Settings > transfer & sync on your n900

I also moved contacts from N73 to N900. The wireless method did not work for me.

I used PC suite to backup contacts from N73, then connected N900 and used the backup file to load contacts to N900.

I used Switch from my N95, and Sync on my N900, and it worked fine. However, I did find a slight issue using PC Suite to sync.

From what I can tell, the N95 and N900 use different "fields" (apologies if that's not the right word).

If I sync my N900 to outlook, everything copies to the PC fine, but if I edit a contact in outlook, and resync back to the phone, the "Mobile" field is unsupported, and promptly discarded from the mobile.... leaving a contact with no number :-(

If, however... I created a contact on the N900, sync, edit, resync in the same way, the "Mobile" field survives the transfer..... weird.

If you don't sync to the PC though, then you should have no problems
