My N900 onscreen keyboard doesn't seem to get activated anymore. I hadn't really noticed when it started happening but just realised that I haven't seen it for a while.

Anyone know how to get it back or what needs to be checked?

Yes, keyboard closed and 'Use Virtual Keyboard' is selected!

While I am thinking about it I vaguely remember installing an app a while ago with character input recognition. That's probably what I have messed up. Can't remember what it was called though, so can't search for the thread to find a solution.

also depends on the app I guess. does it not show up anywhere?

PS: While testing my VirtualKB for your post I noticed firefox adds
" prin"
when the VirtualKB is opened... weird.

Doesn't show up anywhere. I used to use it quite a bit. Does anyone remember the name of that character recognition app that was announced a while back?

If the OSKB is used only during browsing, wld suggest an alternative.

Install Opera 10. It comes with its own OSKB and is simply brilliant, far better than the native one. Also supports portrait mode

I'd rather have the OSKB back by default. I am pretty sure I had to tweak something to be able to write characters with the pen on the N900 for the app to work but cannot remember the name of it.

If I could remember the name of the app I am sure the thread would have the tweak that I made and be able to restore the OSKB.
