Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is anyway to use internet to display the number or name of the person who is calling, instead of paying extra for the caller id feature that your carrier provides you.

CID is a network feature, and even there was a way, the person calling would have to have an elaborate setup to send the caller ID via the internet, and you would have to have one to receive it.

In short, CID is a network feature, and it's annoying when networks charge you for you to see who's calling. Sorry

I thought Google Voice (or 'google something' for making calls) could do this.
I was under the impression that it could take your land line and port receiving calls to your cell phone. So both ring at the same time...

Short answer is no.

Long answer is no unless part of your call passes over the Internet.

If your call is SIP-to-mobile, or mobile-to-SIP then maybe. (GoogleVoice is a part-data based service)

If the call is a mobile-to-mobile call none of your call passes over the "Internet".

Hope that helps.
