Having a problem with my N900 the notification light stays on, and is colored white. It stays white throughout out the process. Blue Nokia logo on White screen then goes to the 4 dots screen then the four dots disappears and the device goes blank then turns off. I will upload a youtube video in a few moments.

Ideally I'd like to make a back-up of the phone and reflash. If a re-flash is not necessary I'd be happier to go that route. I did make backups but I'm pretty sure they are on the phone. Any help would be truly appreciatted!

Video of the error/issue I am having : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21uOcnC_eH8

Yup, happened to me too after trying to do the OTA update via xterm, except the lights were a bit more funky and flashing madly. I had to reflash everything (tried just the kernel, but made no diff). C'est la vie

Ok I fixed it was scared though. Here's what I did:

My phone was not on PR 1.2 so I figured let's upgrade off air and see what happens..was scared because I did not want to lose data so I found this guide with my google-fu:
http://gerrymoth.co.uk/?p=238
Proceeded to follow the guide and was able to get my phone back-up and running.
My last back-up was on the 8th of this month not a big deal but still thank god I backed it up. So all is well now! I'm on the latest firmware and all is better!
