So wouldnt it be better and perhaps easier if Nokia adds HTML 5 support to MicroB? Is it harder than flash?

Why do people start to believe HTML is a video format?

I didnt say that. All I'm saying is maybe we should consider alternative to flash? N900 codec support is amazing thanks to the community so what seems to be the problem if instead of flash based content we have HTML 5 based?

Yes, and HTML5 is going to play for you all those Flash sites out there, especially now when Flash has Android backing.

Other than that - harder or not depends on the available codecs in Maemo 5 and Mozilla implementation of the video tag. Canvas is already supported, as can be seen here:

EDIT: And it works kinda good.

I hope for Firefox Mobile to provide HTML5 compatibility, although I would prefer to see support in microB as well.

With respect to Flash I hope to see 10.1 soon, no because it is great, but because it is (still) needed by some sites.

You can have Flash in HTML5. Is that what you want? Or VP6 embedded in <object>? Or whatever strange codec/container-combination inside <video>? What is it you talk about when you say "HTML5"? And why would it need to be HTML5 if HTML4 (or XHTML 1) can play the same video file with the same HTML-code?

But flash was a big selling point for the N900.

This reminds me of the Hitler-Stalin pact.

First we hate Flash, then we love it, then we hate it.

It just undermines our credibility to keep switching Party lines.

And it undermines Nokia's credibility even more.
