Just wondering if anyone else is having problems copying MP4 video files for use on the N900?

Basically, the files play fine on my Laptop from my hard drive, but when I either drag and drop them onto my Micro SD card, or cut and paste them across they won't play.

I know it's not a problem with the phone as I've inserted the Micro SD card back into my laptop and they won't play on my laptop either. I also tried copying onto a 6GB card I have used in the past and I get the same issue - "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Thing is, the original MP4 that I'm coping plays just fine!

Any ideas??

You are either using a fake memory card or either a defective one already. I have this same issue on the past on my PSP and I have found out that I was using a fake memory stick. Thanks to magicgate

Thanks Radicalz38, that figures, I bought the 16GB card off ebay! Thing is, some of the MP4s play fine i.e. the first 9 episodes of the series play perfectly well, but all the others won't play! Seem to be having the same issue with my other 6GB card too - and I know that one's genuine.

Can anyone suggest the best place to buy a GENUINE 16GB micro SD card from?

Yeah not all gets corrupt... Some cases is from the video size. If its too big then it gets corrupt already. Try on your local shop... You should know a good one by its price... If its slightly expensive then most of the time its good. On my device I use a Ridata micro SD.
