Hello people!I have installed sygic mobile maps 9 but I have a problem. When I start the app,the gps is start working but it doesn't stop blinking the gps icon even if am outside, which means that it can't find me.When I have an internet conection the gps finds me immediatelly, but when I don't have it can't find me.Do you know why is that happening?I know that the gps of nokia n900 works with an internet connection, but I thought that sygic mobile maps offers you complete offline navigation. If you know anything please answer me,because I need a navigator in my car (I am a new driver ).

Try going to the settings (on the phone not the sygic app) then to the location settings. disable the use of internet for the gps.

the internet connection is used to determine your location faster using the network towers. this is why they call it A-GPS (assisted gps)

You might have to wait longer than you expect if you're offline. I wouldn't be surprised at anything under 10 minutes. If you get a fix, some of the GPS data is cached so next time it'll be faster (within a given time period)

it will take about 5-10mins to get a lock with Sygic, but if you previously connected then it will only take about 1min to relock.

Ok I will disable the network positioning and I am going to wait when the miracle will happen!Spanner what do you mean "a fix"?

P.S.:If anybody of you know a better navigation app, please tell me because if I have to wait 5-10 min everytime to lock then this is stupid.

Actually,it made it in a pretty fast time.3 min 51 secs!I guess we have here a new world record ! I was just wondering why is this happening.I mean when we use a gps device, which is only for navigation and nothing else,it locks the signal very fast. What does it have more that n900 doesn't have?

p.s.:Can you please answer to my previous post?

I'm not doing anything special.
Do you have network positioning enabled?
