Hi All,

I've installed RDesktop on the N800 however, whenever I try to connect (after filling in the necessary info), the app simply closes.

Anyone managed to get this to work? If so, can you explain how you got it working?

use the ip address, I find that dns resolution often does not work.

That happens to me if the address is wrong or if the computer is not set up for rdesktop. The program doesn't give errors.

It does that when the IP is wrong, when there's no network connection, password is wrong, or domain name not entered, if you're on a domain that is. If you make sure you are connected to internet first and enter all information correctly it should work. I use it all the time at home and at work. Wish there was a way to save the configuration so I don't have to change it all the time. I use it at work all the time.

Oh and make sure you also enable remote desktop on your computer.

Hi All,

Thanks for the advice. I managed to get it working now. Turns out the IP was incorrect.

hi, to get the ip, all you need to do is go to the cmd terminal, type ipconfig, and your ip number on the network is the ip address correct? i dont have a user name or password so i can leave those fields blank right?

2.right click on home xp and enabled remove access
3.found out my workgroup name on my xp box and used that as my domain.
4.my username and password is blank, do i need to create an account?

I dont have an option to inout my IP, only the RDP server. I am assuming that this would be my IP. I have to accounts on my XP machine, and they arenamed and password protected. Would this be my username and password to enter in rdesktop? Also, what would Domain be my workgroup, or the name of the PC?
