Okay, i've seen multiple threads out there and i've even downloaded a few very quality samples. What i want to know is, what are the end all best video settings for my video conversion software? i have Badaboom, and it converts to .Mp4 format... so i know i'm safe there but i also want it know what resolution, what bitrate, etc... because every single file i've tried to convert into the phone from Badaboom has caused issues. This is contrary to my G1, my HTC Touch Pro, and my HTC Titan, all of which played videos from the Badaboom converter just fine. I thought that the N900 had BETTER codec capabilities than those other phones, was i wrong? or is that all just paper BS?

My main question to restate is, WHAT SETTINGS?!

Video:
Formats: Divx (avi) or mp4. These should do. There are other formats, but these are pretty standard.
Resolution: 800x480
Bitrate: Keep it low. No enormous number. 600-800 should do it.

Audio: Mp3 @ 128-320 kbps.

Any recommended applications? Because badaboom appears not to like those settings...

Handbrake
http://handbrake.fr/

Here are the settings I use.
Video Bitrate 900
Audio 190 @ 44.1
Resolution 800 x 480 or contrained to ??? x 480 depending on source.

MP4 or H.264 depending on source and also if I feel like messing with B.

Deleted post as according to "T-Unit" it's pointless. Even though processor and system specs in this day in age are completely irrelevant for the topic. . . . at any rate moving on.

MP4 is an encapsulated format - the actual video and audio inside can be many things...

Have you tried using MediaCoder, it has a cuda encoder included and is very configurable?
