I live on the south side of Chicago and I have TMobile with my n900, for some reason for the last week now my device has not been able to get a data connection better than 2.5g... I have friends also on the tmobile network with Android devices and they are getting 3g speeds just fine.

Anyone know what might be the cause of this/how I can fix it?

Regards,
~Jeff

Mine was only 2.5 then i went to settings>phone>network mode and see what it says. it was gsm only. change it to dual. Sometimes autodisconnect forgets to change it back

or maybe its due to the new improved 3G network that t-mobile rolled out

I've been experiencing this problem in the Seattle/Redmond area since mid-day Monday.

Two separate T-Mobile reps confirmed that unspecified tower work is being done in the region, but I couldn't get more details from them. i've got a tech-support ticket# to chase: #3511-705. Perhaps ring T-Mobile and ask them to connect your issue with mine?

Also, I was PM'ed by someone in the region who said their connectivity problem cleared up on its own.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I had experimented w/ AutoDisconnect over the weekend, hit the 2.5G limit problem, then ended up re-flashing my phone. Apparently, AutoDisconnect's setting of my Phone Network type to "GSM" persisted after the re-flash.

I just reset it to 'DUAL' and am now back at 3G.

T-Mobile's off the hook.

I have the same issue. I uninstalled autodisconnect and it has remained 3G since. I am only guessing, but I think autodisconnect is switching to gsm everytime it disconnects.

Looking at the app before uninstalling, it now has a setting for switching from gsm to 3G, and it didn't when I installed it a few months ago.

All anecdotal evidence, but I have noticed autodisconnect is updating fairly regularly as of late.

So that's my prime suspect, we'll see how it goes over the next few days...

Phono

edit to say I'm also in Houston

i have this problem early in the morning 2-5 am central time. most times manually selecting 3g only and then selecting dual works. I think it's got something to dol with HSPA+ rollout.

I stay in Houston area.

I was having t-mobile data problems as well this week. I too will uninstall auto disconnect and see if thats the problem. But as of late email is not sending unless on wifi and all type of weird stuff data wise.

I too have had problems over the last week or so not being able to connect to any Tmobile data network from my office or home where it had been working fine. Disabling autodisconnect fixes the issue. I then go and set the phone to dual mode again. This really seems like a bug with autodisconnect but I don't find any other threads about it.
