I want to categorize my application menu. I know there are at least two apps you can download to do this, however I don't know if they work with PR1.2 - could I get some recommendations on what application to use to do this? I apologize in advance, I tried doing a search but everything regarding this subject seemed a bit cluttered.

Basically the question is; is there an application you can use to categorize your applications that works with PR1.2? If so what is the best application to do so?

Catorize works fine, however you won't be able to move the icons around using the default PR1.2 behavior. They're sorted alphabetically, which in my opinion is fine.

I have been using Catorize for some time, and have been happy with the functionality, but after upgrading to PR1.2 I had to remove it, because it caused Hildon desktop to drain the battery now and then.

After removing Catorize the problem has disappeared.

Are you sure about that? How long does your battery longs? In my case, if I disconnect wifi and move with 2G the battery lasts almost one day. With 3G I think it would last only 3 h maximum, with wifi at 19:00 it may be really empty.

Now that I read you, I'm wondering if I should also desinstall the catorize app ...

Sadly, the issue is real but strictly speaking is not due to Catorise or MyMenu but a hildon-desktop bug already reported.

It does not always happen if you enter one menu and run a proggie, but multiple entries and exits into catorise's sub-menus pretty much always triggers it. As a work around you can use Conky as a check to show %cpu and if a problem
Code:
killall hildon-desktop
will result in the desktop reloading cleanly.

Out of interest, have you checked if hildon-desktop is behaving with your setup? One might not notice that it "runs hot"....

Apparently it does not trigger the bug as it employs a user level defined hildon menu and not the system-wide one. Quite a bit of work to set up apparently but flexible. Don't use it (yet).
