Hi,

Been having a few problems updating apps recently, I just went to the x-terminal and ran apt-get upgrade to see if i could see the errors and got returned the following:

Code:
irwi: Depends: qt4-homescreen-loader but it is not installed
It asked me to use the apt-get -f install option so I tried this but got more errors:

Code:
error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/qt4-homescreen-loader_4.6.2~git20100421-0maemo1_armel.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/hildon-desktop/loaders/libqtpluginloader.so`, whcih is also in package qt4-maemo5-homescreen-loader
Anyone have any ideas?

apt-get remove irwi

hmm... running that told me irwi wasn't installed. But regardless of that I decided to run 'upgrade' again, and that has now worked!

I thought irwi was 'Irreco Widget' which I do have installed (and still do), is there neway to check for other errors that may exist on the phone? As I can still cant update a number of programs just get 'unable to update'

Just try with apt, check out the error and do the corrective steps (apt-get -f install, or occasionally apt-get remove).

Unpacking qt4-homescreen-loader (from .../qt4-homescreen-loader_4.6.2~git20100421-0maemo1_armel.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/qt4-homescreen-loader_4.6.2~git20100421-0maemo1_armel.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/hildon-desktop/loaders/libqtpluginloader.so', which is also in package qt4-maemo5-homescreen-loader
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/qt4-homescreen-loader_4.6.2~git20100421-0maemo1_armel.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
/home/user #
wat is error code 1? and how to fix it?

You already have a Maemo 5 specific version installed.

i got this problem when trying to install destroid...any idea?

home/user # apt-get install destroid
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
destroid is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
irwi: Depends: qt4-homescreen-loader but it is not going to be installed
simplecal: Depends: qt4-homescreen-loader but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

Code:
dpkg -r --force-all qt4-maemo5-homescreen-loader
apt-get install qt4-homescreen-loader
qt4-maemo5-homescreen-loader should be taken down.

Might be an error with the dependencies, I would ask the developers of the applications to fix this.
