Short of getting into Theme building can anyone offer a brief explanation regarding the top left main-screen button that launches the application directory? I'd like to change it...

More specifically, what is its size and properties, and where is it located?

I've successfully been able to create and change application icons without problem, however the 'six blue squares' button looks to behave a little differently.

Any advice? Thanks in advance...

That would be wmTaskLauncherIcon.png and it is different depending on the theme you use. Look for it in:

N900:\usr\share\themes\(your theme name)\images

Remember also to edit the "pressed" icon of wmtasklauncher to suit your needs.

Is there a theme template available somewhere?

Thanks... I've had a look at the images in this folder and realized how much goes into Theme building!

It's a challenge thinking and working on such a small scale. I'm more used to working on larger format high resolution images. To get these kinds of ideas down-scaled and properly edged can be a task...

You might find the Template here useful.

I've gone as far as installing MADDE. It's a relatively involved and somewhat heavy process getting set up. I'm not sure if it's the best process for testing. I got the feeling that it's best to be prepared and ready for packaging before going this route.

For me it's easier to play with existing installed Themes to test my graphics before actually packaging it all up...

There appears to be another separate layer to the Task Launcher button... a full-button flash frame (default Nokia theme):

wmLeftButtonAttachedPressed

Going a little further there is yet another flash frame:

wmLeftButtonEndPressed

To get rid of these full-button flash frames I've simply replaced the above files with these transparent images respectively:

wmLeftButtonAttached
wmLeftButtonEnd

And that takes care of a little Task Launcher cosmetics. Then the reality of Theme building sets in after launching the first app!

Totally amazed that I've been able to reduce a 1000x1000 image down to 40x40 and it still looks reasonably okay for a button!
