I have had and enjoyed the n900 for almost a year now, never gave me a real problem. Suddenly it restarts while i was holding it, and it does not work anymore.

The loading screen takes forever
As the home screen appears, the phone gives me a "unable to perform operation, internal error" and, not only it does not show any background, but it does not even detect the simcard and can't connect to any network. I have reflashed the device using maemo flasher, and tryed installing the latest version first, and the first version after. The error still appears and the phone still does not work.

If i connect it to the NSU, it won't even be recognized as a phone. (i did hold the U button as i was starting the phone, and i also tryied to connect it on both PC suite or Mass storage mode)

Any idea on how to solve the problem that does not involve sending it back to nokia?

It really works for some problems. It's something that should be tried before giving up.

Make sure to save your stuff and settings to some external save place, like /media/mmc1 or your computer, before flashing!

if you flash, most of the time you can leave the emmc however if it doesn't work then you need to flash both. if you still have a problem after that, its probably a problem with your back up so try again but don't restore your back up and you should be fine

If flashing the eMMC doesn't correct the issue, try doing a cold flash before you send it off to nokia.

Had similar issue with one of my N900's, only it wont let me flash at all...fails at last stage of erasing CMT (from memory)...so unable to flash then proceed to eMMC flash. Have searched here for months to no avail. Phone loads but then notifies of internal error. After 2-3 minutes nothing will open except browser (fails to actually display) and xterm. No third party apps or mods installed in anyway. Gave up on it and it now sits in a drawer lol...whilst I wait anxiously for this one to die from another unknown issue.
