So this is basically my Idea:

After entering the Camera application, we can normally switch onto the Other mode by clicking on the icon on the screen.
So, letīs say i was taking a picture just now, but i want to record a quick video of someone. To do this, i have to go into the menu and choose what i want to do, in this example going into recording.
But what about adding the functionality of using the lock-switch to change modes? I mean, normally nobody would use it in such a situation, so would it be possible to write a mod to use it?
For me, it is a nice feature we could use a lot.
Tell me if not, but iīld really love it if it would be ;-D
I am not yet familiar with coding for Maemo yet, so this is only my Idea.

Well, i assumed that you normally donīt use the Switch while using the Camera application.
You start the application, hit the switch and there you go.
Maybe we can extend it to the point, that you have to hold the Switch for 3 seconds to lock the screen? Maybe thatīs fixing your doubts? ;-) (Or the other way around)

I think that even if you have it in your pocket, you wonīt accidentally hit the switch because you need a certain pressure.

If i am wrong correct me please ;-)

what about adding a button to the ui for switching between still and video?

but these are sweet dreams unless someone does dirty hacks or fcam gets video abilities.....

Great idea! I love it. It is really too much work to switch between the modes now.

But I'm thinking it could be even better if we could choose if we want to use the lock switch to switch between photo/video or to switch between flash/no flash (or other things like high quality mode/wide screen mode, etc.) for those who switch between those things more often.

we donīt have that much switches for all that stuff ;-D
But maybe we can use the also Power Button for the Flash ?
I am turning the Device for a few hours now thinking which of the buttons we could use ;-)
