Hi!

Is there an application or another way to solve following issue that I have?

If for some reason i have N900 without keylock on in my pocket, by accident, some times I notice that some of icons on desktop have disappeared.

I guess that operator logo is clicked so that "desktop" modification mode goes on, and then icon are simply deleted when screen is touched.

Any ideas how to solve this? it is a bit annoying to add many icons again and again and backup is a bit too strong way to handle only desktop icons.

Thank you,

MPat

It's not of use now.. but I'm learning Qt/C++ at the moment (not from scratch, or else it would take ages :P) and I've planned on creating solutions for this, which are:
- Pocket recognition, by using the front camera and the proximity sensor. If it's dark and closeby, it's probably a pocket :P lock screen/keys in that case, of course.
- Save/restore desktop layout

You could state that help is on the way hahah but that might take a while..

modified hildon desktop has a gconf key for disabling desktop edit mode. Available for installation from my repository (see link in signature).

Hi,

Ive downloaded your app and installed it, although I cannot find it in my phone's directory. (it has definately been installed as it is listed in Application Manager).

Can you please provide step-by-step instructions on how to disable desktop editing.

Thanks very much.

Quick reply.

http://my.arava.co.il/~matan/repo/Mo...n_Desktop.html

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/key-actions/disable_edit -t bool true

I haven't tried this, I have only read the page.

Hello!

There is no GUI for this. Just use terminal change to root and command:

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/key-actions/disable_edit -t bool true

Will disable modification state

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/key-actions/disable_edit -t bool false

Will again enable it.

Cheers,

MPat
