Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone could please help me. My proximity sensor has stopped working. I have shortcutd installed but I never use proximityd, I only noticed the proximity sensor wasn't working when I decided to try using it as a dashboard shortcut. After I noticed that proximityd wouldn't work I tried making a call to see if the sensor would work and darken the screen when I covered it, but no go... it won't work. I checked in healthcheck and my proximity sensor state is: "open" I don't know what that means tho....
Can someone please help me to get my proximity sensor working again? Thanks in advance

Not what you want :
pls tell me in detail as to what you did and how you got it to a NON Working state...and can you confirm this problem under sunlight..try calling someone under sunlight and lemme know if the screen goes off... i would love such a problem in my N900 .. no seriously!!

As for a fix :
i guess rebooting..or enabling and disabling the proximity sensor again from ShortcutD .. or in the worst case reflashing...this cannot be a hardware prob unless you have dropped it or some physical damage has been done..

Hey,
I'm not sure what I did... it's been a while since I noticed it so I can't pinpoint when. I'm not sure what you mean by calling someone in the sunlight... I tried just calling someone and covering the sensor which should make it go black, and nothing happened. I also uninstalled shortcutd and then tried the sensor with a phone call, and still nothing... then I reinstalled shortucd and now It is working as a shortcut for my dashboard, but not as a sensor with a phonecall.... any ideas?

What i meant was : just call someone under sunlight.. and dont cover the proximity sensor.. does it still goes black? the screen?

and now disable the proximity sensor from Shortcutd..and then try.. ?

Hi there, I am facing the exact same problem, when I'm calling someone in direct sunlight/outside or someone is calling me I can't see who is calling because the screen remains black (the proximity sensor doesn't work i quess). Inside it work perfectly.. . please tell me if there is a solution for this problem.
I don't have any application instaled for my proximity sensor (not even shortcutD)

rad, can you list the apps you do have installed please? as even an app that may not seem like it uses the sensor may be doing something
Worth checking

Does sound odd though, does healthcheck read it ok?

Hi, since I have the phone only a few day I've installed only autodisconnect, heatlhcheck (which says everything is OK) extra decoders support, pidgin extra protocols, pidgin protocols plugin for conversations and contacts and some themes.
If u need any new info please feel free to contact me.
I want to say that yesterday I did a "clear device" but the problem si still there.
My proximity sensor doesn't like the sun and to be outdoor.
