i just bought a n900 and have some questions regarding the device.

first, how come when i adjust the brightness of the screen, let's say to 2/5, it still goes to 4-5 brightness? is this a problem or do i have to do some adjustments?

another is why cant my phone support flash 9 when the phone has flash version 9?

another gripe is what is up with the ovi store? when i want to buy the angry birds game, it just comes up with an empty web page.

lastly, what are some apps from app manager can you recommend? for facebook chatting, some games, and other useful apps.

thanks!

I voted for ModRana. MetroMap might also be useful.

I haven't experienced this.

And, check what version of operating system you use. Apps->Settings->About product
Updating solves some problems.

thanks to the recommended apps. about the brightness, it fluctuates from 2 to 4 then goes down again. it doesn't steady at the level 2 brightness. i'm wondering if this is a hardware issue, because if it is i can have the phone replaced for a new one.

by the way my version is 10.2010.19-1. is this the latest version? how can i update if there's a newer version? sorry for asking a lot, newbie about maemo and my phone.

Sidenote: Do not cover ambient light detector(with thumb/hand), which is located on left side of screen (nor do not cover it with screen protector) just under camera.

if i cover it does the auto brightness kick in? if the darker the surroundings, will the auto brightness will kick in and brighten the screen? maybe that's the case with my phone. but still, i prefer it to be turned off so that i can save some battery life. is there a way to turn it off?

I do not know if itīs possible to turn it off.

.edit
I think that if you disable it then you will have problems with speaking on phone when it touches your head and when phone is in pocket.

Yes, it seems to be the latest version, PR 1.2, if I remember correctly.

How can you update, when there will be a newer version?

There is Nokia Software Updater program for PC to update N900 through USB cable connection. Or you can use Flasher 3.5.
