I havent really had this problem earlier, i have dropped it couple of times and it havent newer powered off.

But now, even when placing n900 to the table or slide the screen open sharply, it shuts down, also in pocket witch is very annoying.

Does anyone else had this kind of a fault?

I think it is some battery related problem..?

If it just powers down straight away, most likely the previous times you've dropped it have dislodged something internally, quite possibly one of the battery terminals.

Defiantly sounds like a hardware problem. Living in finland, I'm sure this is something you could get fixed quite easily at a Nokia service center

I had a problem like that, and I put a couple pieces of paper between the battery and the battery cover. the battery seems to pop out a skoatch. i noticed it only happened when the phone was face up.

maybe this could be your problem?

The battery terminals are soldered onto the motherboard, and breaking them off or cracking the joints is pretty difficult. They can't really get loose. If these solder joints cracked, it may cause the shutdown, but I'm guessing it's something else happened.

Open up the N900 and inspect for physical damage. I'm hoping it's the screen ribbon connector or something similar that got partially disconnected.

If i take it apart it provably will avoid the warranty?

Or should i just return it to the Nokia for repair?

Hiya, I had the same problem. Changed the battery for a new one and the problem was fixed. You might want to give it a try too.

Cheers, Rene

Could the battery contacts have been just bent instead of completly broken off?

I seem to have this issue with one of my batteries. I've dropped it numerous times as well, but it only started after a while. I switched to my backup, and have not had the problem since.

Give the battery a shot before you take it apart.

it is definitely the contacts on the battery, just bend them slightly so they are closer together
