I remember when I was reading up about phone tech like 6 months ago to make a buying decision. I would look at sites like netbooknews, gizmodo, engadget and others. There was a lot if interesting information, now it seems its all just bla bla bla carrier will release bla bla bla android phone and bla bla bla will have an android tablet out by years end. Is android really all that? I do look forward to meego getting a shot. at least its accessible linux not completely locked down correct?

I'm tired of hearing Nokia sucking.

BUT, i don't want to squelch the news.
I want Nokia to shape up and put up a good fight.

nokia sucks thats for sure, they make a big fuss about their new handset and as soon as it is released they forget about it and start telling people buy the new one.

android is becoming a bit boring i admit. it's what windows is for business notebooks.... you got a new notebook at the office? what os? oh! windows! really?

i don't mind though. it's there, it seems to be a safe bet for handset makers, so they use it... and you read about it. at the moment. let's see what's hot in 3 years.

the only thing i am getting tired of is journalists referring to it as "the linux for smartphones". we all know how wrong this is - but you cannot explain that without explaining the difference between linux, the kernel, and linux, the system that we usually know as linux+gnu utils+x11+some de facto standards like dbus and gstreamer and bluez and hal and gtk and/or qt.... i wish more people would listen to RMS and call the whole damn thing just gnu or gnu/linux or even jennifer. nobody would think android is jennifer.... only because android uses a variant of a so-called "kernel" (what's that, anyway?) which happens to be used in jennifer, too.

i guess any type of hype gets annoying after a while, but as far as i'm concerned android has done a lot to bring a decent OS to the masses.
apple, on the other hand, i wish i never had to hear about again.

I got rid of Android and as time goes by I'm more and more glad I did. It's a limited OS and I always had major Big Brother concerns with Google.

Now since the Google/Verizon anti-net neutrality proposal, I'm even more convinced I did the right thing. I'll never support to Google again. Oh, I'll use it for search and Google Voice for business, but I'll never spend any money on any Android or Google products. Never.
