I haven't been able to charge my N800 for a few days now, my battery is almost empty. I've tried taking out the battery and putting it back in 10 minutes later (that worked last time it did this). I just cannot charge it. Should I buy a new battery? Or will a separate wall charger like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Desktop-Batt...item4cf147e5ba

-Thanks

- A separate charger will work with the added inconvenience - you have to turn off the device in order to charge.
- If you didn't charged for a few days but the battery is "almost" empty than I'm pretty sure the battery is good. When they go bad they don't hold a charge anymore.
- Does it charge when the device is off?
- Borrow and try another charger / your charger on another nokia phone
- Maybe the charger socket went bad? It happened on my e71 and it's pretty much the same one.

-I don't care about having to turning it off to charge
-When I say almost empty it could turn on then immediately shuts down (sorry for not being clear) This happened because I accidentally left it on in my backpack and it ran out of battery and shut down. I have a friend this happened to as well and he had to get a new battery because he couldn't get it to charge.
-no it doesn't charge when the device is off
-nope, my friend's charger doesn't work either

My N800 battery was useless over 1.5 years ago. They degrade fast. I'd try a new one.

Yeah, I just bought a new one, I got one of the official batteries for about $6. Unfortunately it is going to take 2 weeks to ship. :P so is there any way to make my battery last about 2 more weeks?

I had the same problem after not using my N800 for 1 year.

You can connect a external regulated power supply to the battery directly. It will wake up your battery again.

I used 3,7 Volt and 100mA current limit. After ~5 minutes I put the battery back into N800 and used Nokia charger.

If your battery gets hot disconnect immediately! You should not connect it more then some minutes - it's not a perfect charger

edit: ok this seems not to be your problem, since it was not charging even if the device was powered on.

I had that happen, went to a mates and couldn't get it to hold a charge at all. Turns out it was the charger wire, which I bought on ebay as a back up and mobile charger, because the primary one lived at home under my desk.

Not sure what went wrong with the cable, loose internal connection, cheap manufacturer or kink in the wire perhaps. So it might be worth getting a back up charger as you mentioned.

I managed to breathe life into it again by repeatedly charging it, after the 10th time or so it started to charge. Now it charges like normal.

My battery capacity is decreasing very fast,... moreover now I can charge with a charger 5.2v and0.5mA (it isn't from nokia) but I can't with a nokia (AC-3X) 5V and 350mA

Months ago I bought a new battery in ebay, but the real capacity was less than half of my original nokia battery instead of the capacity printed in the battery ...

I am afraid to buy a new one in internet because there are cheap and more expensive but how could i be sure the it is a good battery? have you bought any?

And buy a original nokia in phone shop is too expensive...
