If you were hanging on to your N900 because of skype, you now have an alternative.
Skype just released an android version for all android 2.1 phones (and maybe 2.2)

It works over 3g / wifi without extra costs besides data plan if applies.

Downloading it right now on my galaxy s.

Edit : It indeed does not work on Galaxy S, But only with enclair 2.1, Luckily I have flashed a leaked 2.2 Rom. So It's working perfect.

confirmed that the app does not work with Samsung Galaxy S phones.

Nope, sadly, but the voice quality is superb, better then land line quality, almost feels like CD-Quality but there is no stereo so can't say it CD-Quality

Really very impressive. i'll make a vid at home and post a youtuber.

Edit : Also, you have the option to set skypeout as default dialer app for Regular numbers.
Meaning you can dial what ever you want in the default phone app, and it will pop skype with skypeout to actually start the call,
Also has options for skype in phone number config.

no video no go.... n900 supports video and audio. still the ONLY skype mobile device out there

That's true
For me there are more important things android has that N900 will never have with Maemo (nokia's fault).

So whoever is satisfied with N900, it still has the video edge, no doubt about it.
Offtopic :
Just to put my finger pointing at the irony, galaxy s i9000 has 3g video calls, and n900 doesn't

Skype for Android supports both voice calls and instant messaging sessions, and integrates with your address book to show you which contacts are online. Skype says it has tested the app with HTC and Motorola devices running Android 2.1, and confirmed that the app does not work with Samsung Galaxy S phones. This is particularly unfortunate because Galaxy S phones are some of the most popular Android phones in the U.S.
I'm glad that it works though

true that...

not to start a slamfest on the n900 but i have been growing increasingly more agitated with this device especially now with stuff like this being released on lesser capable phones. not to say that the androit OS is sh*t either, i certainly embrace it, but i have always loved my n900 but now i am seeing that certain needed apps just dont work well and are becoming really unreliable. mobilemaps 10 for one and even stuff like OMweather. these are apps that should just work and they just dont.

im pisdoff man....

LOL, to be honest the link i provided was just something I took from google search I did to be kind a make the info 1 click closer
