Hi guys,

i dont know if this is even the right category, so if i choosed the wrong one, a moderator should just move it to some other place.

Now a while ago, i saw a blog of one member from this board. This blog has some nice features for example that you can see where he wrote his post (GPS coordinates and the city which was close to that place). He told me how to do that but it was too complicated for me. I decided to create a blogsoftware on my own. This is for all those, who love their N900 and want to keep persons up to date.

You might know, that the pictures you take with your N900 contain GEO-tags (if you enabled that) so you see where you took them. That was not enough for me and so i decided to start developing. Here is how it works:

You go to the admin panel -> Browser asks you if you want to share your location -> if yes, you can now write something and it will automatically use your coordinates / if no, you can also put some coordinates (for example your home) as standard -> once you wrote a new blog, a small map will appear on the right, showing your location and also coordinates and so on. You can choose the level of detail (Street level, City level, Country level). Thats basically it. I use that blog already, but for you guys, i will advance that blog a bit so you have some more functions which could be useful. For now, it only works on the mozilla browser which you can download (search at google for "mozilla maemo") but i hope, other browsers are soon capable as well.

I dont even know if this blog is something useful for most of you, but thats my contribution to this community.

Here is a link of the version which i currently use, but its already outdated so a much better version is waiting to be released soon. Therefor, i dont even release the old one. This blog includes the whole website and all you have to do is to change 3-4 graphic files and changing the password in the admin area.

/edit: it might be possible, that other blogs now also contain such a feature but i didnt find one when i started to develop except one which was way to hard for me to understand. So if there is another one, please supply the link here as well, then i dont need to redevelope the wheel.

The next version will be released on October 27th 2010 ! (i love release dates)


What do i need to run this software?
- a server with PHP5
- one MySQL Database
- mozilla firefox on your N900 or actually, it works with other devices as well i guess

What if i dont have a server and a database?
- i can offer you to host a blog for you on my server
