n900 is classes as an internet tablet. screen is 840x480
n8 is classes as a smartphone screen is 640x360
seeing how n900 has 32gb, built in FM transmitter,IR etc this is why
n8 is only 16gb and new symbian plus camera. it doesnt have keyboard either
also n8 has roughly same processing power.
my dad just got n8 hes still figuring it out but symbian isnt the best and maemo is a winner though it needs tweaks.
over here still at carephone warehouse n900 phone contract is still £5 more tha n8 QQ

The N8 is not the top, or "flagship" as some call it. The E7 is more expensive, although probably not "better". The N9 will be about the same range as the E7, but the N9 is a mobile computer with high specs, the E7 a sleek smartphone.
The N8 is more like the N82, a camera phone.

Nokia has their own private dictionary. They have their own understanding of the common terms: 'mobile phone', 'smartphone', 'mobile computer' and 'flagship'.
Sometimes they're a bit confused with the term 'good' and 'user friendly' too
