ripping and making your own voice files for the navigation system

it should be possible to run TomTom Go on the N800 (you'll need to own a GO already to have the licenses), provided that it is possible to put the framebuffer into the required resolution - QVGA.. whether that it by scaling/stretching OR by cropping, I don't know, sorry.

We called the zaurus version zomtom, so would you call the N800 version nomtom?

Hi,

The same idea came to me a different number of times. Wouldn't it be enough to read in the maps? Developing an algorithm for calculating an optimal route is maybe not that difficult as the weighting of the tracks should already be given in the data files.

Does anybody have a tutorial for installing the Linux/Tomtom version? I'd like to know about the difficulties before I consider buying the hardware...

The maps that the navigation systems use are all from one or two map producers, still the navigation systems are vastly different with respect to usability.. so I would think the biggest problem isn't the maps, it's to write good software on top of the maps!

IMHO, if you want TomTom, just buy a Go or One or Raider. It'll work better than something you try to hack together. I have TT on my Palm T3, and I'll keep it that way I think.
