Hi,
N900 says 'charging' when connected to AC, and the battery icon is alive (goes up and down), but battery is not charged. When I take another battery, same thing happens...

WTF...

I had the same issue a while ago.
I had to jiggle the connector to make it really charge.

It turns out my phone's USB connector was failing me and a month later got loose and detached itself from the phone.
I sent it back to Nokia and they sent me a new phone.
I hope this is not the case with you though.

Hi

This is precisely the same problem I am facing from the last 2 days in my N900.

Were you able to resolve the issue??

Cheers

I had the same issue, i sent mine in and they sent it back after upgrading to PR1.3 and re-flashing it...it works 100% now. So, maybe try a re-flash?

The output voltage from the charger may be insufficient. This happened to me with my AC wall charger, so I replaced it with a 5V 250mAH charger, it takes a little over 5 hours to charge due to the low mAH, 1320/250=a little over 5 hours, but I read it's better to charge slow than fast, and it feels like I get better battery.

Off topic a bit, anyway, if the voltage output is lowered due to damage, which is totally possible over time with normal use, the N900 may think it's charging when it really isnt. It's worth a shot cause it's a quick, $8 solution.

I recalled reading this thread sometime back, and just last night my N900 did it to me. I had it on 'charging' the whole night but the battery was not changed at all! The orange light was blinking and when I check the BatteryGraph, looks like nothing suspicious (including zero charging).

I tried again this morning and it was working as normal. D@mn weird. By the way, has anyone found out the true cause of this charging issue? I don't have Kernels or Advance power apps installed.
