I got sick of having two cables, one for connecting to PC and one for host-mode.
So I made a unisex cable, meaning it works as a male and female at the same time, plus it is small enough to fit comfortably in my wallet.
To make your own, get a USB micro to mini adapter and a female USB A plug (the same that sits in the computer, not a regular USB-plug. e.g. from a USB extension cord).
Note that a regular male USB A plug won't work, since the female port has springy connectors.
Now, cut open the plastic/rubber casing to expose the male micro plug and the female USB A plug. Be careful not to damage the wires and connectors. Carefully pry the metal casing around the felamle plug to extract the white piece of plastic inside. Desolder the wires on both plugs and connect them with a piece of 4-pole wire.
The micro plug I got had three solder ports on top and two on the bottom (and a ground on the side). Looking at the plug from behind, this is the layout:

I sanded the plugs a bit to make them flatter and smoother.
It is also a good idea to secure the wires with some hotglue or similar.
Hope this is of use to som people
NB: please don't sue me if you get wrong, but it worked perfectly for me anyway!
