Hello,
First post but not a Linux newbie.

My internet at is restricted to 128k at the moment so I installed kernel-power and mobilehotspot. At some point, but not initially, internet connections only lists the GPRS connection instead of that and about 9 wifi APs in the area. However, from the command line 'iwlist scan' does list the APs. And WifiEye also works.

Also, pulseaudio got switched off at some point. I started it from the command line and the after the next reboot it was working again. It might be related. Perhaps the GUI Internet Connections need something started before its first scan.

uname -r
2.6.28-10power46

mobilehotspot 0.3.4

Any ideas much appreciated.

Owen.

I've just re-flashed to the supported kernel but it didn't change the situation.

Things I've tried:

o reinstalling osso-connectivity-ui-conndlgs
o restarting wlancond from /etc/init.d reboots the device.
o I tried adding wlan0 to /etc/network/interfaces copying the lines for eth0 but with no effect.

Could dbus be involved? What can I check? Permissions: but where? I'm back at work now and want to connect to wifi...

Thanks.

It's working. Either fixed or I found a work around:

apt-get install libicd-network-wlan

pulled in that and a couple more packages. A quick reboot and it's working.

Now back to kernel-power...
