By popular request (Addison's nudging), here is preliminary working copy of ADOM (Rogue-like game) for the N800/N810.

Updated Instructions:
HTML Code:
Download this file using your web browser

http://ttablet.net/down/maemo/n8x0/adom-setup.tar.gz (7.7MB)
Mirror: http://www.box.net/shared/lyn8256yb2

Now open Terminal and become root (the command varies)
if you downloaded the file to /media/mmc1/ then:

# cd /media/mmc1
# tar xzvf adom-setup.tar.gz
# cd adom-setup
# sh adom-installer

When prompted press Y and ENTER to install
-----------

These instructions are obsolete:
HTML Code:
Download this script and run it:
[url]http://ttablet.net/down/maemo/n8x0/adom-install[/url]
^___(hopefully idiot-proof)___^

For example:

[CODE]$ [B]root[/B]
# [B]wget http://ttablet.net/down/maemo/n8x0/adom-instal[/B]l
# [B]chmod +x adom-install[/B]
# [B]./adom-install[/B]
ADOM installer for N800/N810
Proceed (y/n)? [B]y[/B]
[/CODE]

Then run the game:
[CODE]$ [B]adom[/B][/CODE]
-----

Proper packaging sometime later perhaps (though extra's autobuilder/cauldrin doesn't like my build of QEMU).

If you get the following 25x77 error:

Simply decrease your terminal's font size (minus button)

Thanks to Tulio Baars for hosting the files:

I don't understand your instructions.

Sorry.

Right now I have the file
/media/mmc1/adom-install

I don't have wget installed.

So what would be next?

This is for the N800 and N810.
The N900 version is here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...9&postcount=24

Darn it Addison for the last time
# apt-get install wget

Do you have any idea how many scripts simply assume you have wget installed? Including the one I wrote there, the script won't work without wget.

I suppose I could write another one for the people that hate wget...

In the mean time, simply run the installer
# /media/mmc1/adom-install
and it with auto-magically force wget installation upon you.

wget is already the newest version.
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
osso-software-version-rx34: Depends: kernel-diablo-flasher (= 2.6.21-200842 maemo1) but 2.6.21-200835maemo1rotation is to be installed
Depends: xserver-xomap (= 1:1.3.99.0~git2007032 1-0osso20083801) but 1:1.3.99.0~git20070321-0osso20083101rotation is to be in stalled
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

It's okay if you remove me from Google Talk as a personal friend because of my stupidity. I'll understand.

Alright, for the GUI people version 0.2:

Download this file using your web browser

http://ttablet.net/down/maemo/n8x0/adom-setup.tar.gz (7.7MB)
Mirror: http://www.box.net/shared/lyn8256yb2

Now open Terminal and become root (the command varies)
if you downloaded the file to /media/mmc1/ then:
Code:
# cd /media/mmc1
# tar xzvf adom-setup.tar.gz
# cd adom-setup
# ./adom-installer
When prompted press y and enter to install

OR

if you downloaded the file to "Documents" (default) /home/user/MyDocs/.documents
Code:
# cd /home/user/MyDocs/.documents
# tar xzvf adom-setup.tar.gz
# cd adom-setup
# ./adom-installer
When prompted press y and enter to install

Ta-da.

Code:
# exit
$ adom
(make sure to full-screen the terminal and decrease to minimum font-size or it will complain)

@ Addison,
Naw, I'm not mad at you, I just don't like to repeat myself.

Code:
/media/mmc1/adom-install: Permission denied
Is because you didn't chmod +x the script

Evidently you have wget installed now but there are problems with your package dependencies (unrelated to ADOM and QEMU), looks like you installed the hacked-together rotation support without the Community SSU. Or maybe that is the community SSU I can't recall but I know I've had that error before.

You could try apt-get -f install but it may ask you to uninstall a bunch of things (this will break your install), this is because of some version conflicts. I forget what the proper fix is.

Anyway try the new version (adom-setup.tar.gz) and see if that works any better for you

Garbage. *lol*

[1|user@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1/adom-setup]root
[1|root@Nokia-N800-43-7|~]cd /media/mmc1
[1|root@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1]tar xzvf adom-setup.tar.gz
adom-setup/
adom-setup/qemu-kvm_0.12.3-0maemo1_armel.deb
adom-setup/adom_maemo4.tar.gz
adom-setup/adom-installer
[1|root@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1]cd adom-setup
[1|root@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1/adom-setup]./adom-installer
-bash: ./adom-installer: Permission denied

And yeah, I have the hacked slide rotate installed but not the community SSU.

I first ran your script without becoming root. Would that be the cause for this error message?

Try adding this step:
[root@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1]cd adom-setup
[root@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1/adom-setup]chmod +x adom-installer
[root@Nokia-N800-43-7|/media/mmc1/adom-setup]./adom-installer
