This would mean no more need for BT headsets and no need to buy the expensive BT package when buying a new car.

This would also mean that your (private) conversation is broadcasted to everyone who just has to put their radios to the right frequency...
You might as well put a giant speaker on top of your car and connect your phone to it, put it on the maximum volume level and drive around your neighborhood while making calls...
Don't you think that there was a good reason why Nokia did not enable such a feature?

wtf is wrong with you people? maybe next time u should give a proper title?
#1 check is pidgin has a notifications and if not try to port them and intigrate into hildon notifications ( but it would be painfull to get them all the time.
#2 just connect car as headphones and it wouldn't matter what sound you transmit from n900 (music/radio/calls/whatever_makes_sound_on_n900)

i didn't say to use headphones but connect car's audio system as headphones to n900 =) i don't want you to be stopped by police or get in traffic accident
i'm not rude, i'm just of all these "attention" titles. the point of title to give an idea of the post. we want to keep our forum clean and easy to navigate, don't we? it would be easier for others to see this post instead of making thousand same posts with funny titles. as well as you was rude, by saying "i don't know if it was here" how u expect people to help you if you didn't even tried to use the search to help yourself? or you think our time worth less than yours?
we are not yellow pages of cheap magazines or bazar with cheap products trying to attract customers. it's like that trick one worker in shop tried me to fool, i wanted to buy iaudio7 mp3 player for my sis and they didn't have one (it's pretty good model btw from cowon) but he tried to sell me mp5 player, yes he told it's like mp3 but better, new format. that's what u are doing here. and there are a lot of newbes comming here and instead of reading and searching and doing it properly they just make all those posts and all good post go donw cause of them.
do not poop where you eat - help the forum by not ruining it at least =\

I have a couple of request, perhaps these exist already or are in progress but I dont believe they are and may not even be possible.
Request 1:
Contact Login Notifier:
This would work similar to Microsoft Communicator or Yahoo Messanger notification of when a contact becomes online. Basically a little window or some kind of notification would appear for a second then disappear. Where I think this would be handy is that for me anyway I sit at a desk all day with the phone screen on always, I cant see if a contact logs in easily unless they are pinned to my home screen or i go into contacts directly.
Request 2:
Route Phone Through FM Transmitter:
Not sure if this is possible, but currently the FM transmitter can send sound from Radio/movies to my cars radio, is it possible to router the sound from a phone call to the radio via the FM transmitter ? This would mean no more need for BT headsets and no need to buy the expensive BT package when buying a new car. If this is possible there may be a problem as the car has no mic for me to speak into but many cars, mine anyway have a 3.5mil jack that I can attach a microphone to, could this be incorporated ?
Anyway hope someone thinks these are good ideas, they would be handy for me and im sure some other too.
Cheers
Colm
